The prestigious state-level tournament witnessed participation of 260 players representing eight divisions of Maharashtra including Nagpur, Pune, Mumbai, Amravati, Latur, Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, Nashik and Kolhapur.
Adding pride to Bajaj Institute of Technology (BIT), Wardha, two students — Suhani Gaikwad (Second Year, Computer Engineering) and Shravani Machale (First Year, Computer Engineering) — were selected in the Nagpur Zone Women’s Volleyball Team to represent the region at the championship. Suhani Gaikwad played the key role of Counter Attacker while Shravani Machale performed as the Setter, contributing significantly to the team’s performance throughout the tournament. Their selection came after rigorous selection trials conducted in February 2026 at the District Stadium, Wardha, where 32 girls participated to earn a place in the Nagpur Zone team for the state-level Under-21 Youth Championship.
The tournament followed a league-cum-knockout format, witnessing several intense and closely contested matches among the participating teams. The Nagpur Zone Women’s Team fought hard to defeat Kolhapur Zone, Nashik Zone and Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar Zone in the league stage to qualify for the semi-finals, where they secured a hard-earned victory against Pune Zone to reach the final. In the title clash, after another tough fight, Nagpur Zone defeated Kolhapur Zone by 3–1 sets, clinching the championship title and the Gold Medal.
Both BIT demonstrated exceptional skill, teamwork and determination throughout the tournament and contributed significantly to Nagpur Zone’s championship victory. Their achievement has brought pride to Bajaj Institute of Technology, Wardha, and also to the entire Nagpur Zone, highlighting the growing sporting talent emerging from the institution and reinforcing the importance of encouraging students to excel in both academics and sports.
